Longer pieces where I go and check something myself, then write up what I actually found. Sometimes that means testing a tool and reporting what it did rather than what it promises. Sometimes it means taking a subject apart until it makes sense, and showing the work.

This is different from News. News is what is happening elsewhere. Research is what I tested, read, or worked through myself, with the method and the results both on the page, so you can disagree with either. When the result is inconvenient or when I got something wrong, that stays visible too.

Articles and projects are added here as they are finished.

Pangram AI Detector Review: I Tested It, and It Made Blatant Mistakes

Pangram advertises a false-positive rate of roughly 1 in 10,000. I gave it 10 pieces of text I had either written myself or generated with an AI. Six came back misclassified: three of my own texts were called 100% AI, and three AI-written texts were called 100% human. This is what happened, and why a label like that next to someone’s name is not a small thing.
